Central station – The West Link Project
TFIP is part of a constellation of technical consultants and NCC, which on assignment by the Swedish Transport Administration is responsible for the design and construction of Station Centralen.
The central station interim stage is approximately 1.8 km long and extends from the east of E6 to Östra Hamngatan. Station Central is built with two platforms and a total of four tracks. The Station has three entrances located at Gullbergsvass, at the present Nils Ericson terminal and where the present Göta Älvbro is located. The interim stage will also include the construction of two service shafts between Centralen and Gullberget. Parts of Station Centralen will be used as reinforcement for the current reversing station.
The west Link Central station interim stage is 1800 metres long and connects in the north to the tracks in Olskroken at the E6, and then extends onward toward Central Station and to Lilla Bommen.
The West Link
Västlänken is a new double-track railway tunnel that shall improve travel by train in Gothenburg and western Sweden. By means of the commuter train and regional train getting their own tracks in a tunnel under central Gothenburg, the capacity at Gothenburg Central Station will be doubled. The expansion of the train infrastructure in Gothenburg also allows for concentration and future development of the city above ground.
